About Danika

Hi, I’m Danika! Thanks for stopping by!

If I won the lottery I would help my siblings pay for college, invest in a Disney Annual Pass to visit every park in the world, and then sell everything I owned to live a life of full-time travel. But to be honest, I have never even bought a lottery ticket.

I grew up on the Kentucky side of Cincinnati. My dad has always worked for the airlines, allowing me to start traveling at a young age. At 13, I took my first trip overseas. We visited France, Slovakia, and Austria for my military uncle’s wedding. I remember landing in Paris and being completely overwhelmed, in the best way possible! Confused by the food, overwhelmed with language barriers, and inspired by the ease of travel and how beautiful cities can really be. This trip fueled my love for overseas travel.

Also around this time, I also became obsessed with Disney. I took my very first trip to Disney World with my middle school at 12 years old. When I came home from this trip, I self-planned an itinerary of my dream Disney trip, by the minute – like way too much planning! My mom did not know what to do with me! At 18, I became a Disney Passholder visiting frequently and I even moved my life to Florida for Disney, but more on that later.

My love for Disney and Travel continued through high school and college. In college, I studied abroad in London, England, and Florence, Italy. I also completed the Disney College Program, where I moved to Orlando to work at an attraction for a semester. Safe to say I was not on campus very often!

In 2019, I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Digital and Mass Media Communications and a minor in Business. Once graduated, I packed up everything I had and headed back to sunny Orlando, Florida to work in corporate for Walt Disney World. I got my Disney start working as a professional intern for Central Florida Sales and then later moved to Adventures by Disney. Adventures by Disney is a family-friendly guided group travel throughout the world. How perfect! Both of my loves combined into one job. This was the end goal and everything I had worked for was paying off! It was a total dream come true.

Until it wasn’t.

I worked in Sales and Operations for Disney until I was furloughed 10 months later due to COVID-19. To be honest, I did not love my job and corporate was not what I expected, so I took it as an opportunity to redirect. But, I was lost. Now what? What should I do? I always knew I wanted to travel… maybe even full time, but I never understood how to make it a reality.

I stumbled upon seasonal work in late 2020 and never looked back. I have unlocked my travel side once again and moved to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to become a ski bum for a winter, moved to Alaska in the Summer of 2021 to live and work in a National Park, and then decided to become an expat and taugh English in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Each of these adventures has inspired me to share my travels, which is the driving-force behind this blog.

After a rollercoaster over the last 3 years, I am now back in my new semi-permanent home in Orlando, Florida. I have learned a lot in the last year, like what brings me the most fulfillment and that answer is sharing knowledge and helping others travel.

I have explored the Great Ocean Road in Australia, rode the Hot Air Balloons of Cappadocia, been hang gliding in Switzerland, and experienced magical Christmas markets all around Europe. I am not one for country counting but all my adventures total me 5 continents, 25 countries, and 39 U.S states.

I have been gifted a wonderful life of travel and a passion for helping others on their vacations. From Orlando guides to budget-friendly travel tips in Europe, I want this blog to be a source of information and inspiration for you.
